Job purpose
Ensure that all linens, clothing, and other laundry items are cleaned, pressed, and neatly stored. The Laundry Attendant will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and orderliness in the laundry area, contributing to the overall satisfaction and comfort of residents and guests.
Duties and responsibilities
Laundry Operations
- Collect, sort, and wash laundry, including linens, towels, clothing, and other items.
- Operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Use appropriate cleaning agents and techniques for different types of fabrics and stains.
Drying and Ironing
- Dry laundry items according to fabric care instructions.
- Iron and press clothing, linens, and other items as needed.
- Fold and organize clean laundry for storage or delivery.
Inventory and Supplies Management
- Monitor laundry supplies and notify the Housekeeping Supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
- Ensure that laundry equipment is maintained and in good working order.
Quality Control
- Inspect laundered items for cleanliness and damage, ensuring they meet quality standards.
- Report any damage or issues identified during the laundry process to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
Customer Service
- Respond to laundry requests from residents, guests, and management promptly and courteously.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while performing laundry tasks.
Safety and Hygiene Compliance
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures for laundry tasks, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and appropriately.
- Maintain a clean and organized laundry area, ensuring all health and safety regulations are met.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a laundry or housekeeping role is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent is desirable.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety protocols.
Competency and Skill Requirements
- Knowledge of laundry techniques and best practices.
- Ability to use laundry equipment and chemicals safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills.
Working conditions / Physical requirements
